The Council of Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe

The Council of Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe upholds regulatory excellence as a foundation for One Health and One Welfare. Recognising the intrinsic interconnection between animal health, human health, and the shared environment, the Council ensures that veterinary practice remains central to national biosecurity and sustainable development in alignment with Zimbabwe’s Agriculture and Food Systems Transformation Strategy (AFSTS II).

Through the enforcement of rigorous standards in veterinary education and practice, the Council fosters a competent and ethical veterinary workforce that is essential to:

• Enhancing livestock productivity, food safety, and biosecurity in support of national food and nutrition security.
• Strengthening livestock value chains, market access, and rural livelihoods.
• Supporting climate resilience and sustainable natural resource management within agricultural systems.
• Safeguarding the integrity, competitiveness, and export readiness of Zimbabwe’s agricultural economy.
